15 days till Liam turns one. ONE. How did that happen? This has quite possibly been the fastest year of my life.
Came across this little article on so-called "extended nursing" and thought I would share.

Busy busy

I wont be blogging too much over the next couple of weeks, or at least, I shouldnt be! John and I have decided, after much MUCH thought and discussion, to list our house. It may not sell since the market here is complete crap but hopefully it will. Then our plan is to rent. For how long, I dont know. 3 months? A year? Two years? We are just going to take it as it comes. It all depends on the housing market. If it suddenly picks up we will have to get back in the game asap. But if it continues to slump, renting is fine. We dont know where we want to live yet, so renting gives us some time to think about it. Feel free to suggest a location, by the way. I am tired of thinking about it and chances are if we know you, we have considered living where you are. Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, New York, Massachusetts, oh yeah. We have no clue.

The airline industry makes me sick

For one thing, I think it is criminal how they ignore safety requirements and then only react when? When its going to cost them money. I cant think of another industry that treats its customers so incredibly poorly, then begs the federal government to bail them out. How about being competetive and treating people well - like not leaving passengers on a runway for 8 hours without food or water. I think we should let them sink or swim, personally. If they cant compete, let them go out of business, just like any other company.

Early bird

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

It is 6:30 and I have been up for an hour and a half. Liam woke up at 5 to nurse and then went back to sleep. Thats ok. It gives me a chance to take a shower and have some coffee and check email in peace. I love starting my day that way.

OK here is a picture I took yesterday. This is a community on the way to Andrew's school and this has been bugging me for months. This is one smaller community in a larger group. They all have similar signs and each community has a different picture on their sign. Take a good look.

Let me help you out. Notice the picture of the snow-capped mountains. What the hell? We live in Central Florida. There are no snow-capped mountains. There are no mountains. There are not even any hills. It's like they ordered the sign at a shop with a limited selection of pictures - like clip art- and this was the last one they hadnt already used. Deeply annoying.

Our garden

Monday, April 7, 2008

Here is our little vegetable garden. Please ignore the weeds. The plan is to plant marigolds and herbs in all the holes of the concrete blocks. I know wood would have looked nicer, but I was paranoid about using treated wood in a vegetable garden and didnt want to use untreated wood either. We have growing: peas, carrots, onions, cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, spinach, butternut squash, and corn. I also have some potatoes I am going to plant somewhere, and I might throw a few pumpkin seeds out in the yard and see what happens.

When little girls are quiet

Saturday, April 5, 2008

you better go see what they are up to. (Dont worry, its just baking soda)

ahh it feels so good to be creative!!

I went here today and made 3 plates to display. One for each child. John brought the kids over at one point and I put their hand prints (feet for Liam) on their plates. I have an idea for a gift too so I will be going back soon. I hope the plates come out nice. I pick them up in a week. Unfortunately I flaked out and put Elaina's handprint in hot pink, when her plate is a lighter pink. I intended to make her hand purple. I hope it shows up. Anyway, it was fun.

Car seat safety info

Friday, April 4, 2008

Here is a link to some info, incuding why Consumer Reports is not the best source of safety information. I will also put this link in my list on the left side.

Here is a link to rear facing info. Rear facing is safest BEYOND one year of age. Better to have broken legs than a broken neck... though there are actually no reports of broken legs in rear facing toddlers.
