Plastic madness

So there are all kinds of reports now about how bad plastics are. Plastics definitely have their place and we couldnt, nor would we want to, get rid of them all. But I dont think food and plastic go together. I cant hear these reports and read these studies and dismiss them. I dont want it to be my child who proves that it really IS that bad. I know every day there are stories about how this and that are so bad for us, but this is just not something I am willing to dismiss easily.
So I made a few changes and thought I would post about them.
First, all plastic sippy cups are gone. Of course they are getting older now so they dont really need them, but now when we go out to parks and whatnot, they use Kleen Kanteens for their water. Liam is breastfed and rarely takes a bottle and has a Born Free sippy cup. That is plastic, but it is Bisphenol-A free.
Food storage is tougher. Practically all the food we buy at the store is stored in plastic. For the kids snacks they now use Snack Sacks. Liam is in cloth diapers about half the time ...I need to get more on top of that.
Anyway there are more changes around the house we will be making - no plastic for food storage - pyrex only. We dont microwave in plastic containers of course. As far as other things, we try to find wood alternatives to toys (esp baby toys, since they go right into the mouth). I *try* to avoid buying junky plastic crap that was Made In China, but with a boy who loves Transformers and a girl who loves princesses, that doesnt always happen. She will be getting an all wooden dollhouse for her birthday however.
That's it for now ... Liam is awake.

In a totally unrelated matter - WHY do little girls always strip their dolls naked? I keep finding all these naked dolls (yes they are plastic lol) all over the house...
